MURPH FIT TO START BUILD-UP

27 June 2014

Striker cleared to begin pre-season

Daryl Murphy has recovered from a thigh injury that forced him to withdraw from international duty and will be fit to start pre-season training next week.

The Republic of Ireland striker pulled out of his country’s trip to the United States for friendlies against Costa Rica and Portugal at the start of the month but has responded well to treatment at Playford Road and is ready to begin the build-up to the 2014/15 campaign alongside his Town team-mates.

“Murph felt a niggle when he was warming up during the match against Italy,” Town physio Matt Byard explained to the Club website.

“He trained on the Monday after and felt it again so I spoke to the Irish doctor and he was withdrawn from the squad for the trip to the US.

“We have been doing some work with him over the last three weeks and the injury has settled down now. He is fit and well and ready to start pre-season next week.”
