Easy decision to become a Blue says winger as he targets first-team place

Alex Henshall says it was a ‘no-brainer’ decision for him after signing a two year deal at Portman Road.

The 20-year-old winger spent the final six weeks on loan at Town from Manchester City last season and after being made available by the Premier League champions, Blues offered him a contract.

Alex put pen to paper on that contract this morning, which includes the option of a third year, and is targeting a place in Mick McCarthy’s first-team.

“I spoke to the gaffer a lot when I was here on loan and when he told me he wanted to keep me here, I was obviously delighted,” Alex told the Club website.

“Ipswich was always at the top of my list when I knew I would be moving on and it was an easy decision for me to make. I spoke to my family and my agent but it was a no-brainer really.

“I know the lads from being here on loan and they are a great bunch. I know what the manager wants from me and I like working under him and with the Club moving forward in the right direction, everything felt right.

“I can’t wait to get going now and hopefully force my way into the team, either in pre-season or during the season.

“The gaffer has given me an opportunity and now it’s down to me to take it.”
