Boss pays tribute to magnificent Christophe

Mick McCarthy has paid tribute to Christophe Berra and said that he hasn’t seen a better centre-half in the Championship this season.

The Scotland international gave another immaculate display in Town’s 1-0 win over Birmingham on Saturday before reporting for duty for his national team, with the Scots in action in a friendly against Poland on Wednesday.

“Christophe has had a magnificent season and I haven’t seen a better centre-half in the Championship this season,” the Town boss told the Club website.

“I’m amazed at what other people think about him at times and I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves from outside this Club. I’ve heard opposition staff on the sidelines shouting ‘get at him’. Do they not know how quick he is?

“Remember he is also playing on the right side of the defence and that doesn’t suit him as much as the left yet he has taken to the task with aplomb.

“Like I said he has been fantastic for us. I know how good he is and that is why I  was delighted to get him in the summer.”
