Deserved win says Mick as travelling fans get reward of three points

Mick McCarthy felt Town deserved the win after Christophe Berra’s first-half goal gave Blues victory at Yeovil.

The three points keeps Town firmly in the Play-Off hunt, with Wigan the visitors to Portman Road at the weekend.

“It was a great win for us and I think we just about deserved it,” said the Town boss.

“We had a bit of fortune at the end when they hit the post but they normally nestle in the top corner against us.

“Yeovil are a good team who are fighting for their lives so we knew it would be difficult but we were strong at the back and Christophe came up with the goal from a corner, which was good to see. It’s always rewarding to score from a set-piece.

“He has been magnificent for us and if you are looking for a player of the season, he is right up there.”

Mick also paid tribute to the 1000 strong travelling support, adding: “To see so many here tonight supporting the team is terrific.

“The fans have been fabulous all season but given the travelling they have to do, the away support in particular we have enjoyed has been unbelievable. They deserved the applause they got from the players at the end.”
