Daryl Murphy earns 10th international cap whilst midfielder Jonny Williams is also in national side action
Daryl Murphy made his return to the international scene last night, as a second-half substitute for the Republic of Ireland.
The Town striker came on for his 10th cap for the Greens, and first appearance since 2008, but couldn’t help Martin O’Neill’s side slipping to a 2-1 defeat to Serbia in Dublin.
Current Blues loanee, Paul Green, was also part of the Ireland squad but he failed to make it off the bench.
Christophe Berra was also an unused sub, as he watched his Scotland teammates overcome Poland by a single goal in Warsaw.
Jonny Williams, who recently checked in at Portman Road on loan from Crystal Palace, replaced Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale as a late substitute, as Wales beat Iceland 3-1 in Cardiff.
Defender Elliott Hewitt, who is currently on loan at League One side Gillingham, was an unused substitute for Wales U21s.
