JONNY: I'D LIKE TO STAY AT TOWN

26 March 2014

Midfielder Williams happy to extend loan at Portman Road from Crystal Palace until the end of the season

Jonny Williams has spoken of his desire to extend his loan with Town until the end of the season and help with the Blues’ Play-Off push.

The Wales international has caught the eye during his month stay, netting  his first goal for the Club against Derby last night as Town secured a huge three points at Portman Road.

His initial loan is set to expire after Saturday’s home clash with Nottingham Forest but Jonny is open to extending his stay.

“If everything is right for me, Ipswich and Crystal Palace then I don’t see why the loan can’t be extended,” the midfielder explains in an extended interview with Saturday’s official matchday programme.

“I will be having a chat with both managers to see what the prospects are of me extending the loan. We will see what happens when that comes around but I’d like to stay at Ipswich if everyone is happy for me to do so.”

The 20-year-old has made an impact since joining on loan last month and is admits he is enjoying regular game-time with Mick McCarthy’s side.

“I’d rather help Ipswich try and get into the Play-Offs, playing competitive games than playing Under-21 matches for Palace.

“My long-term future is there [Palace] and my dream is to play in the Premier League, but right now I’m getting games under my belt here at Ipswich, working under Mick McCarthy and most importantly, I’m enjoying myself here.”

Don’t miss the full interview with Jonny in Saturday’s official matchday programme, priced at just £3.
