Jonny delighted to play his part as Town pick up huge three points at his 'favourite' stadium
Jonny Williams was delighted to play his part in Town’s huge win over Brighton, admitting The Amex Stadium is somewhat of a lucky ground for him.
The midfielder put in another man of the match display to help Blues overcome the Seagulls, setting up Daryl Murphy’s goal after Tommy Smith had earlier headed Mick McCarthy’s side in front.
“We’re all delighted with the win today, which was a massive three points for us,” Jonny told the Club website.
“Over the balance of the 90 minutes, I certainly felt we deserved it and full credit to the lads who all put a shift in. The fans were unbelievable as well and they never stopped singing from start to finish.
“I’ve got some great memories of playing here and I wanted to continue that, which thankfully we’ve done today. It seems to be quite a lucky ground for me!
“I was getting a bit of stick from the Brighton fans due to my Palace connections, which I expected, so it was nice to get the three points.
“If anything they fired me up more and I was just glad to play my part today. Having looked back at the DVD of the game, my goal in the first-half that was disallowed was actually onside but it felt even sweeter to set up Murph’s goal and celebrate with the lads in front of our travelling fans.”
