Alan Lee's first foray into football management was a resounding success as his Ipswich Town Away XI beat Bryan Hamilton's Home XI by 9 goals to 2.
The two Irishmen took charge of the teams for the annual Portman Cup, now in it's 6th year.
Usually an evenly fought affair, this year's match proved to be more one-sided, with the reds 3-0 in front by the half-hour mark.
Hat-trick heroes Chris Thompson and Nicky Sudds put the result beyond doubt, despite goals for the home side by Adam Cornish and Craig Bacon.
Victorious boss Alan Lee was impressed by the commitment and effort displayed by his team and enjoyed the experience: "It was a fantastic day and I really enjoyed the whole experience. I knew I had a team who were committed to winning when Danny Frost put in a two-footed tackle on his own son who was playing in the home team!"
Despite the enthusiastic nature of that challenge, both managers and event host Simon Milton - who made a brief cameo for the away team - praised the spirit in which the match was played.
At the post-match awards dinner, Kevin Boyles (away) and Jimmy Simmonds (home) were nominated by their managers for Man of the Match awards, whilst Adam Cornish won Goal of the Match for an excellent lobbed finish.
The Most Memorable Moment award went to Matt Hope for a cheeky nutmeg on Milts during the latter stages of the match!
