Murph could face England's World Cup opponents

Daryl Murphy and Christophe Berra have both been called up for international action in the summer.

Murph has been named in the provisional Republic of Ireland squad for their friendlies in May and June while Christophe has been included in the Scotland party for the friendly against Nigeria at Fulham on May 28.

Daryl made his first appearance for his country in six years when he came on a second-half substitute in the Republic’s 2-1 win over Serbia in March, his 10th cap.

The Irish take on Turkey in Dublin on May 25, then face England’s World Cup rivals Italy at Craven Cottage on May 31 and Costa Rica in Philadelphia on June 6, before playing Portugal, who are also Brazil bound, in New Jersey on June 10.

Paul Green, who spent three months on loan at Portman Road last season, is also included in the Republic’s 32-man squad.
