It's been tough mentally and physically says midfielder as injury sees him miss Euro action

Jonny Williams is out of Wales’ squad for their European Championship qualifier against Belgium after being forced off against Watford on Saturday following a heavy challenge.

The Crystal Palace loanee was on the end of a foul by Joel Ekstrand that resulted in him being substituted and brought the Hornets’ defender a yellow card.

The challenge has left Jonny with a groin injury and he’s had a scan and seen a specialist today.

The 21-year-old is disappointed to be on the sidelines again only having just returned to the side after two weeks out.

“I’ve had a few injuries since I’ve been here and it’s been tough mentally and physically. It can grind you down,” Jonny told the Club website.

“I’ve not really been able to have a full week of training since I’ve been here because I’ve had to manage my fitness during the week.”

Wales take on Belgium in Brussels on Friday and Jonny will be a frustrated spectator.

“It’s always disappointing to miss out on games. It’s exciting times for Wales. It’s probably our best chance to qualify in a while,” he added.

“We’ve had two wins and a draw against a good Bosnia side. All the home nations have started well and we will be looking to qualify.”
