Paperwork cleared as Didz joins up with Republic for first time

David McGoldrick has been added to the Republic of Ireland squad for their European Championship qualifier against Scotland.

The paperwork over the Town striker’s eligibility was cleared by the football authorities at the end of last week and Didz travelled to Dublin this morning with Blues’ team-mate Daryl Murphy to meet up with Martin O’Neill’s squad.

The Republic face Group D rivals Scotland, who include Christophe Berra in their squad, at Celtic Park on Friday, then take on the United States in a friendly in Dublin on November 18.

Conor Sammon, who was named in the provisional squad, is on standby for the two games.
