MIXED MEMORIES FOR CHRISTOPHE

4 November 2014

Scotland call-up for defender as he faces former club Wolves for the first time

Christophe Berra says he has mixed memories of his time at Wolves as he looks forward to facing his former club for the first time since he left the club in 2013.

The Scotland international spent four years at Molineux, helping them into the Premier League under Mick McCarthy and becoming a mainstay in their side during their time in the top flight.

“I signed halfway through the season and we went on to win the Championship and then after that, I had three years in the Premier League and that was a great experience,” says Christophe, speaking in an interview in tonight’s matchday programme.

“There were some highs and some lows as well. Obviously the last year I had there, when we were in the Championship and got relegated was very disappointing.

“I wasn’t involved for the last 16 games so that was frustrating. So mixed memories.

“I have moved on now though and so have Wolves. They have recovered, they did well last year and they are going well this season so we know it’s going to be a difficult game for us.”

Meanwhile Christophe has been named in the Scotland squad for their European Championship qualifier against the Republic of Ireland on November 14 and the friendly against England four days later.

Tonight’s programme also includes an -in-depth interview with another Blue coming up against his former club. Stephen Hunt looks back on his time at Molineux and the ‘ticking time bomb’ that was their dressing-room.
The programme also features Mick McCarthy, Tommy Smith, Balint Bajner and darts double, Kevin Painter and Keith Deller.  Don’t forget to collect your free set of stickers as well.
