Defender delighted with Town's efforts this week as his goal secures a third win of the week with victory over Watford

Tommy Smith labelled Town’s win over Watford as hard-fought but deserved victory, as Blues celebrated a third success of the week.

The New Zealand international struck late on to secure the points for Town, scoring with his right-foot after Kevin Bru’s initial effort was blocked.

“The aim at the start of the week was to get nine points and we’ve done that, so the lads are buzzing in the dressing-room,” the defender told the Club website.

“It was a hard fought win today but certainly one we deserved in the end and it sees us go into the international break full of confidence.

“Watford to be fair had a few chances on the counter, which we knew was how they liked to play, but we dug in and created quite a few opportunities of our own.

“I was delighted to get another goal and it was extra sweet to celebrate with the fans behind the goal, who were excellent today.

“I’ve been working with TC on finishing with my right-foot so it was nice to see that work come off with the goal.”
