Mick looking for response at weekend after disappointing second-half at Cardiff

Mick McCarthy says he will be looking for a response from his players at the weekend after a disappointing second-half display at Cardiff.

Blues led through Daryl Murphy’s goal on the half hour but Peter Whittingham levelled soon after and strikes after the break from Federico Macheda and Adam Le Fondre gave the hosts the three points.

“I thought we played very well in the first-half. We scored a great goal, they scored a great goal,” said the Town boss.

“I don’t know where that second-half display came from though. If you make the sort of mistakes that we made, it’s going to be tough and Cardiff took the chances that we gave them.

“That second-half was as bad as we have played this season and I don’t want to see it again.

“The goals we conceded were comical and it was not like us at all. It was very disappointing, the way we gave away the two goals. Even Whittingham’s goal, it was a terrific strike but he shouldn’t have been given the chance to shoot.

“The players have been a fantastic but the second-half was poor. We need a reaction now against Huddersfield on Saturday.”
