Skipper to remain at Portman Road until 2017 after agreeing new three-year Town contract

Luke Chambers has signed a new contract with Ipswich Town.

The skipper has agreed to extend his stay at Portman Road until 2017, after penning a new three-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.

“I’m absolutely loving my football right now and I couldn’t be happier at Ipswich,” Luke told the Club website.

“I’m happy here, I’m proud to be captain and, most importantly, I want to play for Mick McCarthy.”

Chambo has made over 100 appearances in a Blue shirt, after arriving in Suffolk from Nottingham Forest in 2012, scoring six goals for the Club.

After featuring at right-back for almost the entirety of last term, Luke has recently switched into his preferred centre-half role and has helped Town record a seven-game unbeaten run.

A full interview with the skipper is available to Ipswich Player subscribers, whilst you can watch a free clip with Luke looking ahead to Saturday’s game on our official YouTube channel.
