Town boss nominated for September Manager of the Month whilst Tyrone could be named Player of the Month

Town boss Mick McCarthy and left-back Tyrone Mings have both been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Manager and Player of the Month awards for September.

Mick steered Blues to 13 points out of a possible 15 last month, which included four consecutive wins over Millwall, Brighton, Wigan and Rotherham- a record under his Town management.

The recent good run has seen Town rise into the top six, with Blues next squaring off with Blackburn on October 18th at Portman Road.

The gaffer will go up against Charlton boss Bob Peeters, Steve McClaren of Derby and Middlesbrough’s Aitor Karanka, with the winner being announced on Friday morning.

Meanwhile Tyrone Mings is in the running to be crowned September’s Player of the Month.

The left-back has been a standout performer for Town, growing into each game and claiming a number of man of the match awards.

Tyrone was also rewarded by the Club last month, as he signed a new contract at Portman Road.

The former Chippenham man will battle with Ben Marshall of Blackburn, Blackpool stopper Joe Lewis and Norwich striker Cameron Jerome for the award.

Again, the winner will be announced on Friday morning.
