Mick happy with point after Jonny returns to Town in style

Mick McCarthy felt it was a fair result after seeing his side come from behind to earn a point at Sheffield Wednesday.

Jonny Williams cancelled out Atdhe Nuhiu’s early goal with a strike just four minutes after coming off the bench as Blues maintained a top six place.

“It was a hard earned, deserved point and one I’m happy with,” said the Town boss.

“I was disappointed with the goal we conceded at the start and I’ll take some blame for that. Maybe I didn’t get the message across properly how we defend at the near post. I will next time!

“We played some nice football at times in the first-half but didn’t really hurt them until the final five minutes or so when we had a couple of chances.

“We were better in the second-half though and it was set up for Jonny, wasn’t it?

“He was never going to start after the run we have been on but we know about his quality and he showed that again tonight.”

Jonny was replaced late on by Kevin Bru with Mick adding: “He felt his groin and there is no point risking it. We have Forest on Sunday and he’s doubtful for that  but we have a two week break after that. He’ll be fine.”
