Praise from inside the game as Blues aim to follow up on Wigan show against Millers

Mick McCarthy leads Town into action against Rotherham on Saturday on the back of words of praise from inside the game for his team’s performance at Wigan last time out.

Blues chalked up a third straight win with a 2-1 victory at the DW Stadium on Monday and take on the Millers lying in seventh place and just four points off top spot in the Championship.

“Did we get the plaudits we deserved after the Wigan game, I think we did from some people,” Mick told Ipswich Player.

“The opposition manager bemoaned everything because we played well and deserved to win.

“He accused me of setting up a team to target certain individuals, which I don’t do. I target all of them actually!

“There was a lot of whinging and moaning and I can’t stand whingers. It drives me mad but it’s part of the game now.

“I had some lovely text messages though from people who know and can recognise a good football performance and that’s what we gave on Monday night.

“Now we have to do it again against Rotherham. They have got momentum after back to back promotions. They made some good signings in the summer. I hope our fans don’t just turn up expecting us to win because we’ve won three on the trot. This could be our hardest game of the four.”
