CROSSBAR CHALLENGE RETURNS THIS SATURDAY!

8 September 2014

The crossbar challenge is back at Portman Road this Saturday for our game against Millwall and we are looking for contestants

Town have teamed up again with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines to offer another fantastic prize to the winner of our half-time competition.
Last season, fans were invited to test their skills on the Portman Road pitch in a crossbar challenge competition. This year we were going to change it to a test of distance and accuracy with fans invited to try and score from the halfway line.
We were going to do that but after experimenting with three Academy scholars at the Fulham game on the first day of the season, we’ve had a rethink!
Not only was the distance a problem for the teenage Blues, they had to contend with water firing out of the hoses as Town groundsman Ben Connell and his staff watered the pitch, as well as 14 substitutes all warming up around the centre circle.
In short, it didn’t work so we are going back to what does work – the crossbar challenge.
Over the rest of the season, two Town fans and one from the opposition will be invited on to the Portman Road pitch to do what it says on the tin, hit the crossbar.
All those who hit the woodwork will qualify for the grand shoot-out at the final Championship home game of 2014/15, against Nottingham Forest on April 25. A semi-final might be needed to determine the finalists if necessary.

What you win
The overall winner will sail off with a seven-night 'Mountains & Majestic Fjords' cruise, departing from Harwich on May 2, taking in some breathtaking scenes and all done in luxury, thanks to Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.

How to enter
Simple. Just email your name, address and contact details to jade.cole@itfc.co.uk. All entrants will go into a rather large Ipswich Town hat and two will be pulled out to enter the competition for every match. You will be informed by the Club if you are successful. No correspondence will be entered into and the Club’s decision is final.
