Ambrose signs short term contract in third spell at Portman Road
Darren Ambrose has signed a short term contract at Portman Road that will keep him at the Club until January.
The 30-year-old midfielder has spent the last three weeks training with Blues following an invitation from Town boss Mick McCarthy and featured for the U21s in the 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
Darren started his career at Town, progressing through the Academy and making his first-team debut aged just 18 against Arsenal in the Premier League in 2002.
Ambrose: Back at Portman Road
He made 38 appearances, scoring 11 goals before joining Newcastle a year later in a deal that the Club had to accept because of the financial pressures Blues were under at the time.
The Harlow-born player spent three years at St James’ Park before going on to play for Charlton – in the top flight – Crystal Palace and Birmingham. He also spent time on loan at Greek club Apollon Smyrn while at St Andrew's last term before becoming a free agent in the summer.
This will be Darren’s third spell at Portman Road after he made nine appearances for the Club on loan in 2008/09.
