Striker delighted with Portman Road three points thanks to goals from himself and strike partner McGoldrick

Daryl Murphy was delighted with the performance of his teammates, following Town’s 2-0 home win over Millwall this afternoon.

The striker scored the second goal of the afternoon after David McGoldrick had earlier fired Town in front, with Daryl pleased with Blues’ recovery following an initial slow start to the match.

“It was a good win for us and a deserved win too I felt,” the striker told the official Club website.

“I thought we started quite sloppy but once we had weathered Millwall’s early storm, we started to dominate the game and deserved the win in the end.

“We got a goal at a crucial time just before half-time thanks to Didz [David McGoldrick] and that really set us up on our way.”

The Republic of Ireland international was thrilled to be joined by last season’s top scorer following his recent injury and transfer speculation and insists Didz is as focused on Town as ever.

“It was great to be back playing with him and he was brilliant for us as usual,” added Murph.

“I think we have a good partnership together and we proved that today by both getting on the scoresheet

“I’ve managed to score another with my right foot, which is a rarity for me! I’m just delighted to help out any way I can for the team and the main thing is picking up a huge three points today.

“We now switch our focus to Tuesday’s game and hopefully another three points at home to Brighton.”
