Mick salutes players after Town and Cherries share the spoils

Mick McCarthy said the Town fans have got a team to be proud of after watching his side share the points against Bournemouth in an entertaining 90 minutes at Portman Road.

Freddie Sears put Blues in front on six minutes but Kenwyne Jones gave the Cherries a point with a debut goal after joining the club on loan from Cardiff.

“It was a fair result in the end, even though it was frustrating to concede in the manner we did, from a corner, eight minutes from the end,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player.

“They have brought in Jones as an expensive investment and he has paid some of that back today with a good goal.

“They are a good team and it was real tough game for us but we defended well and it was a good point for us in the end against a team I have said all along are the best in the division.

“I can’t fault my players again. They left nothing out on the pitch and we’re right in there still fighting for promotion. We have improved as a football team and the people of Ipswich have got a side they can be proud of now.”
