Massive six points for Town as Mick salutes goalscorer Cole

Mick McCarthy hailed the win over Cardiff as a brilliant performance after Town took a step closer to the Play-Offs with a 3-1 victory.

Freddie Sears’ eighth goal since joining the Club from Colchester in January, Daryl Murphy’s 24th of the campaign and a stunning first goal in Town colours from Cole Skuse gave Blues the points.

The win saw Town go three points clear of Brentford and Wolves in sixth place ahead of the trip to Molineux at the weekend.

“It was a brilliant performance by the players and we deserved the win,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player.

“We had to be at full tilt to win it because they are a good team. We put their team sheet up before the game and they’ve got some very good players there.

“We were terrific though. I was delighted to see Skusey score. He has been different class for the last three months. His all-round game has gone up a level and he was outstanding.

“I was just as pleased with his pass for Murph’s goal as I was with his goal.

“That’s six massive points for us. We might not be the best team in the league but we are the hardest to play against and when we are at it full tilt, no one would want to play us.”
