Midfielder suffers recurrence of groin problem

Jonny Williams has returned to Crystal Palace after suffering a recurrence of the groin injury that sidelined him earlier in the season.

The Wales international was substituted just before half-time while playing for Town’s U21s in the 3-2 defeat by Bristol City yesterday.

Jonny, who joined Blues from Palace in March for a second loan spell at the Club this season, was assessed by Town physio Matt Byard and has now gone back to his parent club for treatment in preparation for next season.

The 21-year-old midfielder spent five months out of first-team football after being injured in Blues’ 1-0 win over Watford in November.

On his return to Portman Road, he made two substitute appearances.
