Defender set to stay at Blues and scholars to be offered extensions

Kyle Hammond has been told he will be offered a new contract that will see him extend his stay at Portman Road beyond this summer.

The defender has recently returned to action following nine months out with knee ligament damage and was in the first-team squad that travelled to Watford for the 1-0 win just before the international break.

“My main aim now is to get back playing to the level I was before the injury,” Kyle told the Club website.

“I love being at the Club. I’ve been here since I was 13 and I want to do well here.

“I’ve got to come back in pre-season and hit the ground running and hopefully get myself in the manager’s thoughts for the friendlies.”

Academy scholars Joe Robinson, Cemal Ramadan, Josh Emmanuel and Shane McLoughlin have all been offered the chance to stay with Blues, while goalkeeper Jacob Marsden has been told his scholarship will be extended as he has been sidelined for 15 months with injury.

Omar Sowunmi, Darren McQueen and Ben Wyatt, who all signed one year professional contracts last summer, will not be offered new deals, nor will Cory Galvin and Jack Willbye.
