TOWN U21S 5 CHARLTON 1

7 April 2015

Marriott at the double and Mings gets a run out in comfortable win

Tyrone Mings played the first-half as a strong Town U21s eased to victory against a young Charlton side at Portman Road.

The defender has not played since picking up a 10th yellow card of the season in Blues’ win at Watford last month resulting in suspension for the games against Bournemouth and Huddersfield.

Dean Gerken and Stephen Hunt played the full 90 minutes, while Alex Henshall and Elliott Hewitt were also in action for Blues.

Jack Marriott, who is on loan at Colchester until the end of the season, opened the scoring for Town before Gerken saved a penalty from Karlan Ahearne-Grant.

Hewitt made it two just past the half hour and Alex Henshall then set up Darren McQueen for a third.

Dylan Connolly made it four early in the second-half. Charlton pulled one back through Josh Umerah before Marriott completed the scoring.
