Defender arrives as Bez is ruled out for a month
Mick McCarthy says he is delighted to have signed Piotr Malarczyk, who will provide competition for places across the back four.
“He is a tall, athletic defender who can play as a right sided central defender or as a right-back,” Mick told Ipswich Player HD.
“He is a real competitor - one of us - and we are delighted to have him here.”
Piotr is expected to be at Portman Road on Saturday for the game against Brighton but Mick added: “It will be too late for him to be in the squad.”
Meanwhile the boss has revealed that Christophe Berra is set to be out for a month with a hamstring injury.
“Bez tore his hamstring in training last Monday,” explained Mick. “It’s the first hamstring problem he’s had and he will be out for four weeks.”
The injury means Christophe will miss Scotland’s European Championship qualifiers against Germany and Georgia.
