Mick praise for willing Blues as moment of quality keeps Town top

Mick McCarthy praised the selfless attitude of his players after Town maintained pole position in the Championship with victory at Preston.

Ryan Fraser’s 25 yard strike won the game for Blues after Brett Pitman’s first goal for the Club had been cancelled out by Daniel Johnson before the break.

“I was delighted to see Brett get his goal. He’s a top lad and a top player,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“It was a bit of quality that won it for us in what was a really tough game.

“They were the better side in the first-half. They won the individual battles but we scrapped it out.

“We were the better team in the second-half though and had more of the ball and it’s a terrific win for us and keeps up at the top of the league.

“We asked players to do different jobs for us and they were great. Brett dropped into midfield, Freddie played out wide.

“We have won that game because players have been selfless for the team, for me, for the Club, for the fans, for each other. If we continue to do that, we will have a successful season.”
