Midfielder delighted to team up with the Town boss after making the switch to Portman Road from Brentford

  • Midfielder signs one-year deal
  • Could make his debut at old club
  • Delighted to work under Mick

Jonathan Douglas has spoken of his excitement at joining Town and admits he can’t wait to work with Mick McCarthy- someone who tried to sign him previously.

The midfielder put pen to paper on a one-year deal at Portman Road after arriving from Brentford, finally linking up with the boss, who once tried to sign him when he was at Leeds.

Now the former Bees skipper can’t wait to get started at Town and admits he didn’t have to think twice before making the switch.

“When a Club like Ipswich comes in for you then you have to take notice and the gaffer didn’t really have to persuade me to come, it was a no brainer,” Jonathan exclusively told Ipswich Player HD.

“I’ve known the gaffer for a few years, from speaking to him on and off and playing against his sides over the years.

“I think he actually tried to sign me before when I was at Leeds so I’m delighted to finally get the chance to play under him and I can’t wait to get started.

“Ipswich is a huge Club and there’s a good squad here. The boys went close last season by getting to the Play-Offs and hopefully we can go one better this time around.”
