Striker looking to grab opportunity after penning one year deal
The 20-year-old striker has impressed enough while on trial at Town over the last two weeks to be offered a deal, scoring for the U21s in the wins over Leeds and Coventry.
James was a youth player at Stoke before joining Celtic. He spent a year at Celtic Park but international clearance issues delayed his opportunity to play games for the Bhoys and he rejoined the Potters.
He spent two years at Stoke and had loan spells at League clubs Scunthorpe, Mansfield and Accrington Stanley in that time before being released by the Premier League club in the summer.
“The trial has gone well. I just got my head down and showed the manager what I can do,” James told the Club website.
“I see this at the start of my career now. I don’t think I have really had the opportunities at other clubs but the manager here has told me to come in, work hard and we will see what happens.
“I was offered something at Sheffield Wednesday but I knew Ipswich were interested in having a look at me and I’m delighted to have got a contract sorted. Now it’s up to me to impress Mick McCarthy.”
