Jonathan Henly handed one year deal and offer made to striker James Alabi

Town have signed Jonathan Henly on a year contract with a one year option.

The goalkeeper has been without a club since leaving Reading at the end of last season and will immediately join up with fellow ‘keepers Dean Gerken, Bartosz Bialkowski and Michael Crowe at Portman Road.

Jonathan has been on trial with the club for the past two weeks and kept a clean sheet in the U21s’ 3-0 win over Coventry at Playford Road this week.

He has also recently been called up to the Scotland U21 squad, along with winger Ryan Fraser, for their upcoming European Championship qualifier against Northern Ireland at Mourneview Park, where he will battle with Liverpool’s Ryan Fulton and Hearts’ Jack Hamilton for a starting spot.

Town boss Mick McCarthy has also confirmed that he has offered a deal to striker James Alabi (pictured), who has been training with Town for two weeks and scored in the U21s 2-1 win at Leeds last week and the win over the Sky Blues on Monday.
