Aussie international to add to wing options at Portman Road

Mick McCarthy has told Ipswich Player HD that Blues are signing Australian international Tommy Oar.

The 23-year-old winger is a free agent after coming to the end of his contract at FC Utrecht and is due at Portman Road over the weekend.

Oar spent five years with the Dutch club and clocked up more than 100 appearances for them after joining from Brisbane Roar.

“We have watched Tommy a few times and checked him out on our scouting system. We have done our due diligence on him and he will be a good signing for us,” said the Town boss.

“I spoke to Jan Wouters [former Holland international], who worked with him at Utrecht, and he gave him a glowing report.

“He is quick and direct and puts some great crosses in. He does all the tracking back as well. I’m delighted to have him. He’s a full Australian international
and he will add to the competition here.”

Mick broke the news of Oar's arrival exclusively to Ipswich Player HD
