Blues wait on scan results after injury to Patterson

Town’s U-21 victory over Leeds last night was marred by an injury to striker Monty Patterson.

The New Zealand youth international was stretchered off just after the hour mark but travelled back to Suffolk and will have a scan this afternoon.

Town physio Matt Byard told the Club website: “Monty is back with us and we will know more after the scan later today.”

Leeds’ Frank Mulhern headed the hosts in front early on in the first-half, connecting with Casper Sloth’s cross to guide the ball past Michael Crowe in the Town goal.

The equaliser came on the half hour mark, as Cameron Stewart’s cross from the left found Shane McLoughlin in the box and the striker prodded home.

It took until late in the second-half for Town to grab the winner as trialist James Alabi raced clear of the defence before coolly sliding the ball into the net.

Mark Kennedy’s side will hope to build on their opening day victory with Coventry the opponents in Town’s first home match on Monday, August 17.
