Growing sport gets showcase on fieldturf before Brighton game

Suffolk FA are showcasing Walking Football at Town’s game against Brighton tomorrow.

Teams from Walsham-le-Willows Sports Club, Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, Activ Lives Ipswich and walkingfootballipswich.co.uk – will play exhibition matches between 1.45pm and 2.30pm on the fieldturf.

Walking Football is currently played at nine venues around the county, and the sport is continuing to grow at a rapid rate.

It is mainly played by over-50s, but there are no age restrictions on who can take part.

Suffolk FA Football Development Officer Gary Pinyoun said: “It is a fantastic opportunity which will allow us to showcase Walking Football in Suffolk and will be a great platform to take things forward.”

Former Town players John Wark, Mick Stockwell and Simon Milton are scheduled to be pitchside on the fieldturf around 2.15pm to show their support.
