Mick hails team display as Blues continue away day success

Mick McCarthy hailed his team’s resolute performance to take all three points from the trip to MK Dons.

Brett Pitman’s early goal proved the decisive moment as Blues made it three successive away wins and the fifth on the road in the Championship this season.

“It's performances like that that give you a chance of getting out of this division,” the Town boss told Ipswich Player HD.

“Keeping a clean sheet away from home against a team that were looking to react after an inept performance last week - in the words of their manager - and he did get a response

“We were resolute as a team and when they did get through, Gerks made two or three great saves.

“They played well but we stood up to them and we won the game and that is all that counts in the end.

“We should have won at Brentford, we should have won at Forest but we didn’t. They might feel they deserved something from the game but we showed what a good team we are.”

Mick also welcomed Ryan Fraser back to Portman Road following his recovery from a knee ligament injury.

“We have to be careful with him. He’s been out for six weeks but it’s great to have him back with us and it gives us real options now,” added the boss.
