Record breaking Blues rewarded for fan engagement
The Index is an annual league table of all 148 British professional football, rugby and cricket teams, ranked according to the best use of social media by their official club channels.
Launched in 2013, it is compiled by measuring the social media performance of each club, with a team of researchers looking how they use all social media platforms before a judging panel makes a final decision
Town finished third behind leaders Leicester last year but have taken top spot for 2015, scoring an impressive 79.5 out of a possible 100 – the highest score the Index has seen in the three years it has run.
Judges praised the Club’s breadth of social channels and impressive community growth over the course of the year. The panel were also impressed with the variety of media used and the use of watermarks to cross-promote the Club’s social channels.
They acknowledged the Club’s excellent use of behind-the-scenes video content and high community engagement rates.
Town’s digital media editor, Jonny Ogle, said: “We are obviously delighted to finish top of the table.
“We engage with our supporters through a variety of ways on social media, including exclusive behind the scenes video footage on matchday.
“We are putting together some new ideas for 2016 that we hope the supporters will enjoy.”
