Skipper proud of strong home form and praises the Blue Army for playing their part for the team

  • Proud of strong Portman Road record

Luke Chambers wants to see Town’s strong home form continue- with two successive Portman Road wins against Reading and Birmingham.

The Blues moved to within two points of the top of the Championship table following wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham last week, with the skipper praising the support of the Blue Army as well as the performances of his teammates as Town claimed six points.

“The fans made it feel like a home game against Fulham and to celebrate with them at the end was fantastic,” Luke told the official Club website.

“It will be good to be back at Portman Road and we are strong at home. I think I’m right in saying we have the best home record in the League and that’s something we are very proud of.

“It’s a long way for teams to come and we want to send them back with nothing to show, although make no mistake that there is no easy game in this division and Reading and Birmingham will both want to cause us problems.

“I think the fans have certainly played their part in making Portman Road a tough place to come to and the atmosphere has been very good this season.

“I spoke before about being as one from the terraces to the pitch and that showed at Fulham. It shows we are all in this together and I think it summed up what Ipswich Town is all about at the minute.

"We've got to stick together and, most importantly, enjoy what we are trying to achieve here." Latest on
