Noel Hunt believes Town have a good variety of strikers after Mick added Freddie Sears to the ranks in Janaury
- Competition keeps players on their toes
- Sears is a 'fox in the box'
- Noel believes a partnership with all the strikers could work
Noel Hunt believes the recent addition of Freddie Sears helps compliment the Town frontline perfectly.
After allowing Conor Sammon and Balint Bajner to move on during the transfer window, Mick McCarthy added Freddie Sears and Noel on permanent deals to fight it out with Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick for a place up front.
The Republic of Ireland international welcomed the capture of former Colchester man Sears and sees his arrival as competition for a starting place- something he insists you need at the ‘business end’ of the table.
“You need to have that competition and I think it’s great that we have four strikers at the Club, all with different attributes,” Noel told the official Club website.
“Murph is big and strong, Didz can drop off deep, Freddie is a real ‘fox in the box’ if you like and me, well I guess I just run around a lot!
“In all seriousness I think we have four very good strikers that can all help the team from now until the end of the season.
“I think it’s great for the manager to have that variety to choose from, as I think we could all play together as a partnership depending on who the he selects.
“That’s great to have and when you are challenging at the top end of the table, you need that competition and flexibility to keep everyone fresh and on their toes.”
