MATCH PREVIEW V ROTHERHAM

6 February 2015

Mick looking to celebrate birthday in style as he sets targets for Town

Mick McCarthy will be looking to celebrate his birthday in style tomorrow with three points at Rotherham.

Town make a first trip to the New York Stadium, with the boss, who turns 56 on Saturday, looking for Blues to follow the lead of Burnley last term and push on for promotion.

“Burnley are the nearest team to us in terms of comparison from last year, with the squad size, the way they play and the money spent in the January window," Mick told Ipswich Player.

“They had one more point than we do at this stage last season but they kicked on and ended up with 93 points. That is some achievement but that is what you are looking at for automatic promotion.

“That has to be the target for us. Whether we get there or not, we will see but that figure will get you promoted.

“You are looking at 75 points for the Play-Offs unless it’s an exceptional year and there are a lot of teams that will feel they can get there.”

TEAM NEWS
Rotherham: Jack Hunt is a doubt for the Millers through illness but Lee Frecklington should be back

Town: Daryl Murphy has recovered from a calf injury that kept him out of Town’s draw with Wigan last week and is included in the squad but Luke Hyam and Dean Gerken are still sidelined.

FOOT IN BOTH CAMPS
Conor Sammon spent the first half of the season on loan at Town from Derby and scored in the 2-1 win against his former club Wigan in September. His lack of game time prompted his return to the iPro Stadium at the turn of the year with a view to a loan move to Rotherham for the rest of the season and he has already notched for Steve Evans’ side.
