Stewart goes close and Crowe keeps Palace at bay but Eagles edge it

Michael Crowe made several good saves in the Town goal but Blues went down to defeat against a strong Palace side.

Glenn Murray and Paddy McCarthy were both included in the home side's line-up while Mark Kennedy had the services of Matt Clarke, Cameron Stewart and Dylan Connolly.

Stewart went close for Blues, bursting clear and seeing his shot deflect off McCarthy, with Chris Kettings in the Palace goal just doing enough to tip the ball over the bar.

Kyle Hammond, back in action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury, also tested Kettings with a 30 yarder but Palace had the clear cut chances and Crowe was tested on several occasions.

The Wales U19 international kept out Reise Allassani’s powerful strike, then did well to get in the way of McCarthy’s header from a corner.

In the second-half, he was equally alert to prevent Murray getting on the scoresheet and in the closing stages, he kept Town in the game with a point-blank stop from Kyle De Silva.

The only goal of the game came early on, Connor Dymond heading in from a corner.
