Chambo tipping Murphy to hit the 30 goal mark and is full of praise for Freddie Sears' supporting role

  • Skipper praises frontmen
  • Back Murphy to get 30 goals
  • Says there is a 'buzz' at Playford Road today

Luke Chambers has heaped praise on his teammate Daryl Murphy and believes the striker can keep adding to his tally before the season is out.

The Republic of Ireland international netted both goals during the win over Fulham which saw him move onto 21 strikes for the season.

Despite attempts from teammate Freddie Sears at trying to claim the goal, Chambo believes it was clearly Murph’s goal and is now backing the top scorer to continue his rich streak in front of goal.

“What a season he is having and I think 30 goals has got to be the aim for him now. We’ve got 15 games left so why can’t he keep this form going?” Chambo told the Club website.

“If he doesn’t, it’s not the end of the world as long as other players are chipping in but with the form Murph is in and the type of player he is, I think he’s certainly capable of being a 30 goals a season player.

“Searsy has a little case for the first goal, as he says he got a nick on it and he was trying to claim it but it’s Murph’s goal.

“Freddie has only just come through the door and I don’t think he wanted to upset too many people and he’s had to bite the bullet a bit on this one!

“He claims he got a touch on it and said so after the game but Murph was having none of it and Freddie has had to back down!

“That’s the spirit we’ve got here at the minute and I can tell you that every player was buzzing after the game on Saturday and it was the same when we came in for training today.”

“At the end of the day though, it doesn’t matter who is scoring the goals as long as we are doing that and with Murph, Freddie, Didz and Noel- we’ve got four very good strikers who are all capable of chipping in.”
