Midfielder moves to the Checkatrade Stadium on a three-month loan after ending similar stint at Rotherham

Town midfielder Anthony Wordsworth has joined Crawley Town on a three-month loan.

The former Colchester man, who arrived at Portman Road in January 2013, will now team up with Dean Saunders’ side and could make his debut against Rochdale at the weekend.

The Red Devils are currently 23rd in League One, although are just a point off safety, and claim a 2-2 draw against MK Dons in their last outing, despite playing the majority of the game with striker Matt Harrold in goal following an injury to Brian Jensen.

Anthony, who switched to squad number 22 for this term, has failed to hold down a first-team place at Town and spent time on loan at Championship rivals Rotherham earlier this season.

He made just one start and one sub appearance for Town this season, the start coincidentally coming against Crawley at the Checkatrade Stadium in the Capital One Cup.

The midfielder has netted two goals for Town, a header against Hull in 2013 and a neat finish in a defeat to Watford last season.
