Blues snap up striker from Colchester in deal until the summer of 2017
Mick McCarthy has added to his squad with the signing of Freddie Sears from Colchester for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at Portman Road until June 2017 and will travel with the Town squad to Millwall for Saturday’s game.
Freddie started his career at his local club, West Ham, and after progressing through their youth system he marked his debut for the first-team with the winner against Blackburn in the Premier League in 2008.
He went on to make 58 appearances for the Hammers, with his time at Upton Park including loan spells at Crystal Palace, Coventry and Scunthorpe, before he joined Colchester in the summer of 2012.
The former England U21 international arrives at Portman Road having scored an impressive 34 goals in 98 appearances for the U’s, including 14 this season.
The paperwork has been registered with the football authorities by today's midday deadline, which should enable Freddie to be available for tomorrow's game.
