Supporters travelling to games by train over the next two months could see their journeys affected by major engineering workTown fans travelling to games by train should be aware of disruptions to services between East Anglia and London Liverpool Street over the next two months which could affect their journey time.
We are informed that from January 31st until March 22nd, the line will be closed between Manningtree and Shenfield every weekend.
We understand that maintenance work is being carried out including new tracks to be installed in the Colchester, Marks Tey and Witham areas whilst engineers are also replacing overhead wires at Chelmsford.
A bus service will be in operation but this will add considerable travelling time so supporters attending Town games by rail - both home and away - are advised to plan their journeys in advance.
The Club, as well as other local media outlets and businesses, were not made aware of the planned engineering work by Network Rail and we encourage any supporters affected to pass the message on.
Abellio Greater Anglia in response to our request for further information referred us to the following link on their website: http://www.abelliogreateranglia.co.uk/travel-information/journey-planning/service-alterations
and advised us that "Once on this page use the calendar to select the date of travel and further information is provided."
Whilst the work is carried out, Town have the following fixtures:
31st Jan- Wigan (H)
7th Feb- Rotherham (A)
14th Feb- Fulham (A)
21st Feb- Reading (H)
1st March- Norwich (A)
7th March- Brentford (H)
14th March- Middlesbrough (A)
21st March- Watford (A)
"The Club is disappointed at the lack of communication from Network Rail however we are continuing to work with Abellio Greater Anglia to help supporters who may be affected get to games as easily as possible," said Town MD Ian Milne.
