Mick McCarthy was pleased with the display of his players, as Town got the pre-season campaign off to an emphatic start.
The Blues boss watched on as his side brushed aside Shelbourne 6-0, with Alex Henshall, Darren Ambrose, Cole Skuse, Brett Pitman (twice) and Jay Tabb all finding the back of the net.
“Results aren’t important at this stage but we still want to win the game, of course,” the Town boss told the official Club website.
“Shelbourne had a game last night but nevertheless, I thought some of the football we played and the goals we scored were excellent.
“All the lads impressed me out there and they’ve all had some match action today. The young lads Myles Kenlock and Josh Emmanuel did great, Ainsley Maitland-Niles the same and I thought Alex Henshall was excellent.
“They’ve worked hard all week at Carton House and it’s nice to cap off the week with a good performance.
“They can go and enjoy themselves tonight and then we will be back at it on Monday, continuing the hard work.”
The Town boss also revealed that Cameron Stewart is available for transfer, after leaving the winger out of the squad that made the trip to Ireland.
“Cameron is available for transfer, yes,” added the boss.
“The squad we’ve got now is looking good but we are still looking to improve, so we are looking around at potential additions, as we always do.”
