Danish international targets Premier League with Town after a word from a former Blue
The 22-year-old Danish international has put pen to paper on a three year contract at Portman Road, with a year option - joining the Club for an undisclosed fee from Esbjerg fB.
“It is a great feeling to be an Ipswich Town player and I can’t wait to start playing for the team,” Jonas told the Club website.
“I have always watched English football and have dreamed of playing here and now I’m going to have the chance to do that. It’s a really exciting move for me.
“I saw some Ipswich games last season and know the team was near the top of the league. I think we can have another good year and hopefully get into the Premier League. That is one of my big hopes - to get in the Premier League with Ipswich.”
Jonas spoke to a former Blue when he knew of Town’s interest and the advice was all positive.
“I played with Thomas Gaardsoe at Esbjerg for three years and he is a friend of mine,” added the left-back.
“He played here at Ipswich and he told me what a great club it is and that the town was good as well. He said it would be a good move for me.”
Town fans should get a first chance to see Jonas in a blue shirt in Saturday’s friendly against Utrecht at Portman Road, kick-off 3.00pm.
Watch out for his long throw. “I can throw the ball a long way,” he said. “Someone in Denmark said I will be the new [Rory] Delap!”
