MICK HOPING FOR CASH BOOST

9 July 2015

Boss looking for extra £250,000 transfer kitty

Mick McCarthy is hoping for a £250,000 windfall to help boost his first-team squad, with Town one of 10 clubs in line to win the cash.

Blues are in the final draw of the Sky Bet Transfer Fund competition which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports on Friday from 12.15pm.

Town’s MD, Ian Milne, will be representing Town at the draw, with Mick telling the Club website: “It would be great to have a few extra quid to spend and help compete against the clubs with their parachute payments.

“I’m told if we win, we will pick up £250,000 and one of our fans will get £5000, which would be fantastic of course. Let’s hope we get the luck of the draw!”

The prize money will be used by the winning club to fund a new arrival, whether that be a transfer fee, loan fee or wages.

Town have reached the final 10 after Blues’ fan Spencer Todd was pulled out of the hat after signing up for the Sky Bet transfer fund. He will walk off with £5000 if Town's luck is in on Friday.

Mick was speaking to the Club website from Town's base in Carton House in Ireland, with Blues spending the week there before playing Shelbourne on Saturday in the first pre-season friendly. The Club website will be in Ireland to speak to Mick and the players on Friday.
