Boss delighted with the condition of his players as the squad report back for pre-season training at Playford Road
- First day of pre-season today
- Lads report back in great condition
- Boss delighted and ready to get down to work
Town boss Mick McCarthy has been amazed by the condition his squad have returned to pre-season in.
The players reported back to Playford Road yesterday for fitness tests- which they all passed with flying colours- before officially starting pre-season today.
Absent from training were the players involved in international duty over the summer, the likes of Daryl Murphy, David McGoldrick, Christophe Berra and Kevin Bru, although new additions Ryan Fraser and Brett Pitman were at Playford Road.
“Remarkably the lads have come back fitter and stronger than last pre-season, that was proven by their test results from yesterday,” Mick exclusively told Ipswich Player HD.
“We were amazed with them last year so this is really positive and it’s clear that they’ve put their work in.
“They’ve had their break as well though and they needed that. It’s a long hard season.
“You can tell they have enjoyed their breaks but now they want to get back, see their mates and get back into it.
“Everyone is happy to see each other and we are straight back down to work now.”
