Mid-season tournament for Town's U12 side in Dublin this weekend
Town’s U12 Academy side are heading to Dublin this weekend to take part in the Premier Sports International Cup.
The young Blues will visit the Republic of Ireland capital to compete against eight other sides, consisting of other professional academies and some of the best representatives from the Irish Youth Leagues.
The tournament, which runs from the 27th – 29th March, has been organised by Peamount United and the Town side have been kindly sponsored by Paul Curtis of Farnham Leisure.
“I feel it’s important to support the Academy as this is the future of Ipswich Town,” Paul told the official Club website.
“When you see home-grown players like Teddy Bishop breaking into the first-team, it gives hope to parents such as myself who’s son is in the Academy. That’s the dream for my boy and hopefully I can see him in the Town first-team one day.
“Sponsoring the Academy through my business gives me great satisfaction and pride as both a father and business owner.”
Simon Milton, Director of Academy Sales at Town, echoed the words of Paul and thanked him for his sponsorship ahead of the trip to Ireland.
“Having Paul on board as an Academy parent and sponsor speaks volumes of the commitment we get from other parents and local companies,” added Milts.
“We don’t have the budget for mid-season trips like this, so we are thankful for individual sponsorships to help us such as what Paul has contributed.
“The tournament will prove to be an ideal way to develop our players for competitive football and also represent Ipswich Town in the correct maner.”
