GERKEN AND McGOLDRICK TO MISS BOLTON CLASH

16 March 2015

Town duo both ruled out through injury ahead of tomorrow night's clash with Neil Lennon's side at Portman Road

Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Dean Gerken will miss tomorrow night’s clash with Bolton, while David McGoldrick is also ruled out.

‘Keeper Gerken was stretchered off minutes into the game with Middlesbrough after suffering concussion, whilst McGoldrick has had a setback in his return from a thigh injury, although both could be involved against Watford on Saturday.

“Gerks suffered concussion and it’s worrying to see any player come off on a stretcher with an oxygen mask on,” the Town boss told the official Club website.

“It must have been even more upsetting for his partner though, watching the pictures on TV after having a baby only 24 hours earlier.

“He was taken straight to hospital and scanned there but was given the okay and travelled back with our Club doctor on Saturday afternoon.

“He was at the training ground this morning and we will see how he is for the Watford game but after being concussed, he was never going to be available for tomorrow.

“David McGoldrick was back on the training field last week, although unfortunately he didn’t train today after feeling a niggle in his thigh.

“He’s been out for five or six weeks so we have to be careful with him. We’ve missed Didz, any team would miss his quality.

“Let’s hope we will see him back in a blue shirt very soon.”
